Outside is Inside
(Artistic travel photography, 2012 – ongoing)
The works from the PLACES series are a collection of photographs, which is not primarily about the documentation of a place, but about capturing the state of mind or the momentary sense of life of the photographer at the time he takes the picture. The depicted scenery is thus not only a representation of an external landscape, but, so to speak, an inner landscape.
Accordingly, the selected photographs are mostly not the usual postcard motifs. Rather, the focus was placed on the symbolic power of what is depicted as well as on the appropriate moment, the appropriate lighting mood, and the deliberate choice of a certain image composition in order to symbolize the emotional condition to be represented.
Although, for conceptual reasons, I opted for the uniform, reducing conversion of the photographs into grayscale (black-and-white), I would not like to deprive the interested viewer of the colorful variants. These can be found here.
